Daily Routines

Daily Routines

It is important for children of all ages to have reliable routines and to be actively integrated into the day’s schedule. To this end, we follow clear, simple structures in the Primary School in order to provide consistent orientation for students and to ensure the daily learning activities can be fully supported.

Our school program begins promptly at 8:30am each day and ends at either 3:00pm or 3:30pm depending on the age group. Each class has their own class schedule, mapping and organizing classroom instruction, breaks, and lunch. In BMS Primary, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science are taught by the classroom teachers. Music, Math, Theater and Sport are taught by specialists in specialist classrooms. Each period of instruction lasts 45 minutes.

Daily routines also include a 15-minute break in the morning and a 60-minute lunch break between 12:00 and 13:30 in our school cafeteria. During this time, students eat a warm lunch and use the remaining time to play with friends and classmates in the school courtyard.

As soon as classroom instruction is over, our afterschool program begins, offering our students a selection of clubs, projects, and free play until 6:00 p.m. each day. As an all-day school, we made the decision to not assign any homework in our Primary School. We recommend, however, that students consistently make time to read. Primary School students can take out books in our school library or follow the reading suggestions of our dedicated librarians to develop a love of literature already in the Primary years.
