We are excited to welcome our community this Thursday, June 1st for an incredibly dynamic showcase of creativity across BMS. Student-led tours through the exhibition spaces will take place immediately following auditorium performances. International Day is Back!

International Day is Back!

We are excited to welcome our school community on Friday, June 16th beginning at 3pm to celebrate diversity & the many cultures found at BMS. The festivities will include individual booths representing the food, customs, and traditions of the international identities in our community. Students can visit the stands and stamp their passports to document their travels! Join us at 3pm on June 16th for a celebration of our global community.

Our Gr. 6 students have been diligently preparing their PYP exhibitions over the last weeks, constructing their final information stands and preparing their individual presentations. The exhibition marks the culmination of their time as PYP students and is a direct expression of their skills as inquiry-based learners. Join us on June 7th & June 8th for the exhibition in our auditorium!

Our Secondary Economics Club will soon travel to hear Ole Tillman speak on the Design Thinking Method, as part of the guest speaker program the team has developed. Secondary Science News: BMS Student Awarded 2nd Place in International Writing Competition

Congratulations to Aekeana Gr. 11 for winning second place in the Next Breath/Molecular Frontiers Journal writing competition. For her essay on solutions for a cleaner future and fog harvesting, Aekeana was awarded 2nd place, a monetary reward, and her work will be published in the Emerging Scientist edition of the international journal. Congratulations, Aekeana!

We would like to congratulate Leni Gr. 8, Louis and James Gr. 7, and Anna Gr. 11 for receiving an honorable mention on their essays as part of the Next Breath/Molecular frontiers writing competition! These students submitted scientific papers on variety of subjects and were awarded amongst their peers from across the globe. Well done!

Gr. 7 & 8 Math Challenge @ BMS

May 15th-16th marks the BMS Math Challenge Week for our Gr. 7 & 8 students, offering dynamic math questions to test a broader perspective of math in a fun and accessible way.  Students will compete with their peers at BMS and against students from around the world. The entire week is aimed at allowing students to get curious about the power of math! We look forward to announcing the top contestants after the results are in!

Grade 9 Class Trip: Sailing Trip

Our Gr. 9 students will soon take to the seas in a class trip scheduled from May 22nd-26th, where they will set their sailing skills to the test as they navigate sail boats in the Ijsselmeer bay in the Netherlands. Students will manage the ships, cook their own meals, and hone their team-building skills together in groups. We look forward to reporting about their adventures!

Our Primary School students are gearing up for an exciting sports day on May 23rd, participating in relay races, mini tournaments, and much more in their house teams. The event will take place at the Berolina Sports Field and is aimed at celebrating healthy competition between the BMS Houses and having fun! We look forward to updating our community with the results and the house winner.

We are down to round 3 with our primary school fastest class challenge, with so many students showing amazing engagement and truly applying their skills. We are proud to report that for the first time we have had a tie for first place with both 1a and 1c completing an impressive number of average laps per student in 5 minutes. We would like to congratulate all other title winners: 2a, 3d, 4b, 5c, and 6d! Well done to our students!

Secondary School Concert: Over 2,000 Euros raised for the homeless in Berlin

We would like to thank our entire school community for making the Secondary School Concert an amazing success! Through your donations and ticket purchases, we are now able to donate over 2,000 Euros to the Bahnhofsmission, providing food, shelter and other important services to the homeless in Berlin. A big thank you to our community and see you next year!

Grade 11 Class Trip: Usedom

Our Gr. 11 students are gearing up for a class trip from May 8th-May 12th in the red woods of Usedom. Together with their peers, our students will have the opportunity to enjoy cabin life in small groups, go on nature hikes, have daily campfires, travel to the local water park & beach, and so much more to celebrate their time together as a cohort. Our creative students in Gr. 11 are set to participate in a special workshop in collaboration with the New York Film Academy. Students will learn how to showcase their creative work in their portfolio and for auditions in the creative industry.  We look forward to welcoming the team to the BMS Campus on April 28th!

Our resident artists from Primary school have been busy putting their creative imagery to work, creating figures inspired by nature, human forms in action, and of course the brightness of spring. Directed by our engaging art club teacher Mr. Hamann, our students had a master class in design using terracotta as a medium, creating volume in sculptures, and using art as a source of individual expression.

The love of reading can be felt by students and staff alike at BMS: our Primary Faculty Book Club just completed The Fisherman from Chigozie Obioma about the life  of four Nigerian brothers and the challenges they face in their home village. We look forward to the next round!

IRIS Book Bowl: BMS Achieves 3rd Place

Our annual participation in the IRIS Book Bowl was once again a success, offering our students the opportunity to discover new books and genres and further their love of reading! The BMS team placed third this year and our students were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the bowl. The team was able to welcome the author Hannah Gold to speak with the students as part of the finale for the IRIS book award program. Well done to the team and many thanks to our Primary School Librarians!

Our entire staff will use April 17th & April 18th for school-wide professional development days, focusing on curriculum development and the preparation of our upcoming NEASC/CIS Accreditation. A reminder to our community that classes are not in session on both days.

International History Bee @ BMS

BMS recently hosted an international history bee and bowl, providing our Gr. 11 students with the opportunity to test their knowledge on ancient and modern history, Asian history, as well as contemporary politics. Congratulations to Pranav from Gr. 11 who won the individual tournament and to the team in qualifying for the European Championship in Barcelona. Well done!

Our Economic students recently welcomed 25 of their classmates for an event featuring tech entrepreneur David Schmidt, who co-founded a digital pharmacy that facilitates the delivery of prescription medicine to patients. The event provided an opportunity for students to learn about innovation, what it takes to start a successful start-up, and gain a better understanding of the changing business landscape. We look forward to welcoming the next guest speaker from our dedicated BMS Econ Club. Stay tuned!

After an incredible performance from our Secondary School students, we are truly inspired by the feedback and praise from our school community! Over 20 songs marked the evening´s program and 200 guests were in the audience. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the concert and in particular the Secondary School Concert Committee! We would like to congratulate our speakers at the first-ever EE Symposium at BMS! The symposium was a resounding success, and our students presented their research and writing on many dynamic themes. Discover their hard work here as published in the EE Symposium Program. In addition, we would like to congratulate our students who organized a successful bake sale during the program, raising over 300 Euros for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey!
